Rok One is an old soul, wise beyond his years. He plays upbeat party music without boundaries or genre restrictions, and fights the good fight – first for the advancement of dance culture, then for the upliftment of all mankind. A native New Yorker, he has witnessed and absorbed many different eras in nightlife history, and has enjoyed numerous creative periods: previously as an MC and visual artist – and more recently as a DJ, producer, designer and writer.
Rok has played all over the US (and parts of Europe) in venues big and small, and along- side the likes of Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaataa, Juan Atkins, Todd Terry, Moby, Z-Trip, Diplo, A-Trak, Flosstradamus, Pete Rock, DJ Muggs, The Juan MacLean, Honey Dijon, Holy Ghost! and many more. He maintains a bunch of NYC residencies (most notably at The Woods, Kinfolk, The Freehold and the legendary / now defunct Brooklyn megaclub Studio B) and has released a number of well received mixes.
Most recently Rok was a collaborator on the official Rubble Kings mixtape, which accompanied the critically acclaimed documentary, and has been focusing on his monthly Synthpop party “Fine Time”. He is also one half of the duo Black Russian (who have released remixes for Escort, Lana Del Rey & The Phenomenal Handclap Band), the creative director / event coordinator at Plant Music, and the resident DJ / talent booker of the Down & Derby Roller Disco in Brooklyn. Calm, collected, well respected, quality oriented: Rok One is the man for the job!
